CHEER UP: THE WORST IS YET TO COME : A BOOK REVIEW

The book captures the insecurities, immaturity and innocence of a teenage girl perfectly. Off late I have been bored of reading love stories since there is nothing new in them to offer, but this book was refreshing as it focused on an immature love of a teenage girl and her journey, during which, she discovers new friends and builds relationships for life.

Life is not a bed full of roses, if you think the worst has happened to you then there is definitely more to come. So, it’s always better to cheer up is the message conveyed in this novel.

There are several characters with shades of grey yet they fit into the scheme of things aptly and maintain the story’s flow. The fun school/college days are captured remarkably and it makes you feel like reliving those days once again. The realistic characterization will connect with the youth tremendously. I am sure the youngsters, especially college goers, will love it. This being Ila’s debut solo novel, she has done a decent job and done justice to the characters. The poetic prowess of the author is also visible in the book. All in all a good book to read and complete in a day.

The book is published by Gargi publishers and can be ordered from Homeshop18 and infibeam.
